Delamere is a residential detox and therapy retreat located in rural Cheshire. Established in 2020, the centre provides treatment for alcohol dependence, drug use, prescription medication misuse, and behavioural addictions. The purpose-built clinic was voted Best Amazing Space at the Northern Design Awards and offers residential care in a countryside setting designed to support focus and routine.
Treatment Approach
Delamere follows a holistic treatment model that addresses physical health, psychological wellbeing, and long-term lifestyle change. Treatment is organised through the Delamere Treatment Model, a phased approach that supports clients through stabilisation, therapeutic exploration, and preparation for life after residential care.
Residential programmes typically run for 28 days, with on-site medical detox available for alcohol, drug, and prescription medication dependence. The initial phase focuses on physical withdrawal with continuous medical oversight. Subsequent phases explore psychological drivers of addiction and support the integration of therapeutic learning into daily life following treatment.
Therapy and Clinical Support
Therapeutic care at Delamere combines individual and group-based interventions with a range of holistic therapies. Clients typically attend multiple one-to-one sessions each week alongside structured group therapy, allowing treatment to reflect individual needs while maintaining peer connection.
Therapy options include evidence-based approaches alongside somatic healing, yoga, and equine therapy. This blended model supports emotional regulation, self-awareness, and physical wellbeing as part of the residential programme. Mental health support addresses concerns such as anxiety, PTSD, and trauma-related difficulties, with care adapted to personal history, substance use patterns, and contributing life factors.
Programmes and Services
Delamere provides a focused range of residential programmes and recovery services:
- Addiction Treatment and Residential Rehab
- Medically Managed Detox
- Family Programme
- Aftercare Support
Family involvement may form part of treatment planning, supporting understanding and communication alongside the primary recovery process.
Accommodation and Environment
The centre is set within the tranquil Cheshire countryside, surrounded by six acres of private grounds beside Delamere Forest. The rural location supports a calm daily rhythm, with outdoor access forming part of routine activity during treatment.
Accommodation includes attractively designed bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, alongside comfortable communal spaces used for therapy and daily interaction. Wellness facilities include an art studio, gymnasium, yurt, and a private movie theatre, supporting structured activity and reflection within the residential setting.
Aftercare and Ongoing Support
Aftercare at Delamere is delivered through the final phase of the treatment model, known as the Bloom stage. This phase provides structured weekly support for the first three months after clients return home, helping bridge the transition from residential care to independent living.
Bloom focuses on continued therapeutic engagement and practical application of skills developed during treatment. Ongoing support is designed to maintain connection with the treatment process while clients re-establish routines, relationships, and responsibilities beyond the residential environment.
